Fuchsia Blessed Event – Fuchsia of the Week 17/2014

fits with it`s for a Fuchsia very solemn name perfectly to this solemn week.

 

This special beauty was crossbred in Australia by Ron Lockerbie and introduced 1971.

 

Beside that i could not gather any other informations on this hybrid, neither the lineage or the cause for the given name. It is an upright growing Fuchsia with pastel-shades, enthralling kept in the half-shade. Fortunately one needs not to travel  to Australia to obtain it, but can do so in Europe, e.g. in Belgium at the well renown nursery Michiels. And i positively hope that stays that way, if i ever fail- despite all efforts- to overwinter it. Up to now that thankfully proved not to be to complicated, to my delight.
