Purchasing this hybrid at the Fuchsia-Paradise Fuhrmann at Augsburg (Bavaria, Germany, now closed), i was deeply impressed of the large, double blossoms with this striking red and blue color-combination, shown especially if kept in half-shade.
The Fuchsia grows upright and does not branch out willingly of its own, therefore should be cut back even if flourishing later in the season because of that. Being patient is worthwhile to me with this blossom, i never regretted it! This hybrid is known since 1988, but not the breeder, nor the lineage or country of origin, unfortunately. If not being such a beauty, i would have abandoned it- given these circumstances-, as well as being more in need of proper care as other hybrids. Overwintering within the greenhouse proved to be, in the contrary, no problem up to now. Therefore i do hope that the enigma surrounding this hybrid may make it more intriguing at last for not being forgotten in the future. Available is this hybrid- other then from me (i do not sell Fuchsias)- solely from the Fuchsia Nursery Michiels in Belgium to my knowledge. This furthers the hunch in me that this Fuchsia might be originating from Belgium, but thats nothing to be sure about…
