Fuchsia Anahita – Fuchsia of the week 22/2014

is awarded this honor in representational form from me, because my very good friend Anahita is celebrating her birthday this week!

Congratulations as well to the German Fuchsia-hybridizer Karl Strümper for the creation of this hybrid.

Fuchsia Anahita

Anahita

He introduced this Fuchsia 1990 with this name, the parent-hybrids also crossbred by him: “Philippe” and “Gruss an Graz”.

The result is a semi-hanging Fuchsia. If kept in half-shade, it will grow long internodias which  absolutely should be cut back to achieve a more bushy plant. Treated like this “Anahita” flourishes with numerous blossoms, showing deep crimson-purple corollas and pink-red short sepals, unable to cover the filled blossom shortly.

Quite contrary to other Hybrids of this color “Anahita” is tolerant to direct sunlight and rain and is resistant to vermin or the dreaded fungus. Those in favor of Fuchsias with bulging, filled blossoms of middle size and this colors will love this hybrid!
