Is this winter that short and mild as never ever in my life before? I would certainly appreciate that, but up to now i am still suspicious, though it is still only February. But there is a lot of sunshine these days and it is not freezing during the night. And the Fuchsias in my greenhouse are without doubt preparing for summer. They are growing, and the green color of the fresh leaves is getting dominant. And there are more and more buds and blossoms, those being partly a bit small or not complete, and overall slow in their development from the start until fading. A somehow grotesque example is a bud of “Peppermint Candy”. The imperfection of the joint between the tube and the sepals gives away at that time there will be no perfect blossom, but the bud is still nice!
The blossom of “Ingrid Rempfer” is bit small, but “Henricus” left nothing to be desired. The blossoms are as large as ever, and there is no aberrant color as at “Delta´s Groom” on the tip of the sepals. But it is as well showing me the potential of beauty of this cultivar!
Completely different in their blossoms and their form are the two Fuchsias “Remembering Claire” and “André Ramm”. The latter is supposed to be difficult to overwinter, but that is at last not true in my case this year.
An exceptional beauty with blue color is “WALZ Blauwkous”, and it is as well pleasing me with blossoms quite early this year!
