Fuchsia Zets Alpha – Fuchsia of the week 7/2014

Fuchsias of the Group Triphylla-Hybrids are very special!

The Fuchsia Zets Alpha is cultivar of this group, crossbred by the Dutch breeder Z. Stoel from the cultivars Fuchsia volcanica and the Hybrid Citation from USA, and was introduced 1993. The elegance of the leafs, combined with the very long tubes makes this plant very impressive.

The lineage of the Triphylla species is prominent in this cultivar. Like the most of the Tryphillas it is growing bushy and tolerates direct sunlight. But Zets Alpha is growing faster then the other Triphylla-Hybrids and is therefore better suited to propagation through cuttings. Overwintering it in a sunlit greenhouse above 6°C the cultivar will start early in the year growing again, starting to blossom in May and not stopping until the frost. A precise statement: This cultivar is a must-have for the Fuchsia-Enthusiast with the facilities for proper overwintering!
