and it was given because of the jolly form of the sepals. It was introduced 1986 and is- like many others- from the German breeder Karl Strümper, who crossbred “Agatha van Wissen” from the Netherlands with “Pinch me” from the USA.
Fuchsia Schneckerl
There is a large resemblance with the pollen-donator, as this curled sepals are otherwise very rare. But this is what makes this hybrid a striking speciality, best kept in half-shade as a hanging-basket or as well tied up. The pretty blossoms on top of their lang stem do not only fill Fuchsia-Enthusiasts with wonder. Ample fertilizer and thoroughly care is urgently recommended to keep this hybrid in good shape and to induce lush flourishing until fall.
Wether the parent-hybrids are for sale any more some place is unknown to me. But “Schneckerl” is readily obtainable at the Nursery Guttmann in Vienna, Nursery Friedl close to Munich and the Nursery Unflath in “the city of the Fuchsias” Wemding (Bavaria, Germany). But, as always with rarities, one should not hesitate to much with purchasing it, as it is out of stock as fast as it is provided.
“Schneckerl” definitely is something very special!
