Fuchsia André Ramm – Fuchsia of the Week 41/2014 –

still blossoming at the end of the Fuchsia-Season, starting as early as January in the greenhouse.

The breeder was Wade Burkhart, crossing the hybrids “Delta´s Night” with a no name. The result was introduced in 2006.

Without doubt there are only a few Fuchsias showing such dark colors as André Ramm. The corollas show a hue similar to aubergines, tending- depending on the age and the place of the blossoms- almost towards black with red stripes. This is a lovely contrast in combination with more fair hybrids.

This Fuchsia is growing straight upright, but slow. It will not branch out by its own, therefore should be cut back regularly. Beside that the stiff branches are not fragile at all, so gusty wind as well as sun and rain will not damage them!

Being that sturdy i sincerely recommend this Hybrid, if one has enough patience and there is a place to admire it from a closer distance, because the middle-sized, single blossoms are not to striking from far off.

It is told that this Fuchsia is not easy at overwintering. But there was never a problem up to now with my plants within the greenhouse. Should there be a problem in the future, i will be able to obtain them at Fuchsia-Nurseries Friedl near Munich or Bieri in Switzerland again.
